The worshiper of the One Immortal Being, 'Akal', and no other.

The soldier of Akali Baba Buddha-trained Sikh army, the 'Buddha Dal'. The Sikh army of the highest Sikh temporal seat at Amritsar the 'Akal Bunga'/'Akal Takht'. Early last century the term 'Akali' was usurped by British Raj-sympathising Sikh politicians who have nothing whatsoever to do with the original 'Buddha Dal' Akali traditions. At present, one should be aware that within the mainstream Sikh world, the term 'Akali' refers to these Sikh politicians of S.G.P.C. rather than the true Akalis - the Nihangs of 'Buddha Dal' and 'Tarna Dal'.

In a wider, more spiritual context, this term can be applied to ANYONE (regardless of faith/colour/creed/denomination) who believes in a Supreme Being.
